Being able to create artwork gives a soul a sense of grounding. I think of a little kid with paint all over their hands and an unidentifiable image on paper in front of them, beaming, saying "I DID IT!" We all need a little of that in our hearts and minds. In a world full of the unpredictable and unrewarding, it is affirming to create something that makes us feel alive and valid. Making something that no one else can make, because they are not you! An art object becomes a physical extension of oneself -- be it good, bad, or ugly. It can be a little mirror, or a big escape. A comforting process, or a meaningful product. And no one else need intrude on the process unless it makes the artist happy for them to do so.
What will you make today, on this last day of March? Cheers!
