Looking towards the next classes at Create Artisan Studio, beginning soon! Books are an exciting theme to play with -- compact, portable, richly contextual, and loaded with possibilities. We will be playing with Altered Books on Wednesday nights, investigating ways to transform individual pages into personal works of art that explore our personal worlds. On Thursday nights, we will have Fiber Studio. This class will feature three projects for participants including a mini-quilted wall hanging or fabric book, a soft sculpture figure, and a small embroidery sample to introduce the fabric arts. The class is also a good option for people who need studio time to work on an existing or independent fiber project and want to work on that during class time -- push those quilted and embroidered UFO's to completion, people!!
I am in a creatively good place for another snowstorm weekend. Looking forward to gathering up samples for upcoming classes, and working on making even more!! Possibly delving into my skull piece a little more, too. Add to it preparation of web-based resources for my middle school students and class preparation, and it is Monday already. Unless there is a snow day, in which case we can keep the creative train going until Tuesday. Not a bad option! OK, there are some good things associated with snow.
Here's a link to a cool fabric book to inspire you. It is by artist Annette Bolton from the UK. Also pretty neat is the site for pieceofpiestudio.com -- textile based artwork incorporating hand embroidery and more. Cheers to a happy, productive Saturday, everyone!
What will you make today?
