I should tattoo this study on my arm to remind me that it is not only self-affirming and rewarding to make art, it might help the RA, too. Although my body learned to work around the Actemra and keep on inflaming itself within a few months, my suspicions are that I could never become immune to a still life by Redon, a landscape by Wolf Kahn, a gorgeous Islamic miniature painting, or an intricate Byzantine mosaic. Maybe looking at art is a form of meditation? Time to re-up my MFA membership and make a regular event out of basking in the masters, methinks. Might a trip to London become a tax deductible medical expense? One can dream, one can dream!
On that note, I am finishing my coffee at 5:50 am and looking forward to a day of creativity with the best artists around at Parker Middle School. They don't need a study or additional evidence to know that art in all its forms is beneficial -- they just know what feels good!
What will you make today? Enjoy it and know it is doing the body and mind good!
