Another example of unconscious creative planning happened yesterday, too. I have been stalling on doing the finishing work on the large beaded piece that I completed a couple months ago. Not sure why, just other things took precedence and I didn’t feel the urge to get it done. I know now that this often means the right solution hasn’t yet arrived in my head, and I’ve learned that when I wait, I get the result I want in the end, albeit not as soon, Last night a really generous and kind class participant brought bags and bags of fabric for us to use -- incredible assortment. Amidst the treasures there was a bag of sari scraps, in long strip form, with frayed edges. All different shades of purple. At first I passed them by, but then Judy prodded me to look again. Lo and behold, I think they will make the perfect edge trim to the piece I need to finish, I wanted a fluffy, exuberant edge and was thinking of what to use, but was still unsure, It arrived last night! Serendipity again. Life is so full of it.
Creativity is amazing to me and I love how things work. Ideas, materials, feelings, thoughts, and processes all come together to make physical things. Each piece is like a birth of sorts, Now I understand why I have such child-bearing hips!
Quick link today. There was a magazine at the gallery last night about beadwork and in flipping through, a few patterns caught my eye, reminding me of why I love beads so much! The article sowed how to make beads from beads -- and I got some ideas and reminders that it is possible to weave dimensional bead elements to attach to the quilt surface, The photo below is from Pinterest and sadly I do not have information about the artist, But how cool is that? The colors are really interesting as well as the variety of beads brought together. I used to love doing this kind of off loom weaving, but it has gotten lost in the shuffle over the past few years. Maybe it is time to get back to it...ahh, it is all about time. Cheers.
