After a summer of relatively low RA activity and tapering down on the Evil Prednisone, I am being treated to the annual Back to School Flare. Rituxan seems to be a good medication to control RA as symptoms have been pretty mild since going on it a year ago. Yesterday my right foot ballooned up, though, and it is hard to walk on it again today. Couple that with pain on the left side of my ribs, and I feel a bit like a gimpy hunchback. Cane in tow yesterday, it is par for the course. And this too will pass, I repeat often!
As always I stay sane by focusing on what I can do, not what is feeling impossible right now, and have so many things going on at school I have no mental room for pain. I've decided that since I am a Facebook addict I would use my addiction in the classroom and start a page for my art room, and post fun things throughout the day for fellow parents to see. Nothing lengthy or too descriptive, just a few neat moments, and maybe some art memes and articles. While Facebook is a time-sucking monster sometimes, I like how it keeps me in the loop with family and friends, as well as good articles on education, child development, art, and, of course, parrots. While I can not sit on a park bench and be surrounded by wild cockatoos, I can see fellow parrot enthusiasts' pages from Australia and live vicariously. Ah, to dream.
Couple this with planning for creative projects for the students, enjoying their amazingly funny selves, and also cramming in some beading time to hopefully get the skull piece done, and I am too busy for this RA nonsense. Yeah, it hurts to breathe and walk. It doesn't hurt to draw, bead or laugh, though, so life is good.
What will you make today? Feel good doing it!
