Of course this is only the first step. Now comes the hand embroidery, then the beading, then the finishing. The rest will, and should, take months. But if I give myself permission to hustle on them, maybe we can move it to weeks. Thank you, Andrea, for reminding me that it was okay to take the time to just sew all afternoon. Haven’t done that in ages due to not feeling well enough to do it, and having too many other tasks that need doing. For the next few weeks, I will be focusing on making sure that art time gets as much importance as the rest. Or more! Feels good, and I need an inventory again. Hard to keep the art sales going when all I have are large scale works. I like the energy in these smaller pieces, and because of their size, they are more affordable.
These pieces are really fun as there are so many possibilities for embellishment -- color, stitch type, texture, pattern. The hard part will be trying not to over-embellish. Is that possible? Down I go into the morass of needles and threads...ahhhh the bliss.
Awoke an hour early and had good intentions of stitching this morning, but a brief chilly walk under the stars with Til was in order instead. Refreshing and quiet. Now it is time to get to going so I can get to school and do paperwork...lots of it! And put away the awesome supplies that Andrea again donated to my students (holy cow - awesome stuff!) and the materials I got at the recycle center. So much to do, so little time. Always little time. Cheers!
