Got some stitching done on my current quilted piece. There is so much handwork to do before even getting to the beads it feels almost overwhelming. To think I used to have the time to work for hours on end on these pieces, getting so much done every day. Where did time go? Oh yeah, dogs, cats, birds, house, illness, and old age. Now I remember!
Testing begins at school this week. Missed classes, lots of time spent sitting in the hallway watching kids line up silently to use the bathroom. Another rite of spring. Testing is interesting in that it provides another slice of information about the students' capabilities. It is only a piece, though, and I am not sure it warrants such school-wide disruption and anxiety. Oh, DOE, oh.
For an art link today, I am still thinking of the best way to deal with all those slides. So many possibilities! Saving them is definitely and option. One never knows when the apocalypse is coming and I might need to teach art by candlelight. Finding new homes for them is a possibility, too, but I wonder if it is worth the worl to sort them and try to sell them as meaningful sets of themed work that teachers could use. So, here are some possibilities: lampshades and curtains, another lampshade, and an installation in the form of a house.
This idea is cool -- taking the film out and making a charm of the image...hmmm...that means it could be a BEAD. Hmmmm...I could paint the frames and they could be beads....uh oh...sigh. Off to work!
