Off to the police department today. I'm not getting arrested, just participating in an all day training session on Youth Mental Health that is happening in the RPD conference room. While I do respect and appreciate free professional development, I hope it doesn't feel like I've been arrested by the end of the day! Colleagues have reported that "It's okay," and "They keep you busy," so I hope the day flies by as well as it does when I am in my happy place (my classroom). I miss my never ending stream of dirty paint brushes and clay dust already.
Here's a perspective-altering article about the humble pigeon. Not art related, unless I consider one of the half-done art quilts I tossed a few years ago was of a flying pigeon. I like them. They are smart little survivors, and really quite pretty, But then again, I think rats and possums are cute, too.
For an art link today, it is nice to remember the artwork of Marisol, who passed away last week at almost 86 years old. Her sculptures are fun and lively, exploring identity and stereotypes while clearly having a fun time making things. Pop art at its best!
