It is now my alarm clock. My book reading and listening device. My bill paying machine. My Pinterest monitor. My email presenter. My weather station. My camera. My flashlight. My grade book. One of my sketchbooks. My generalized "do this stuff" notebook. My calendar. My Words With Friends device that keeps me in the loop with my Auntie. My succinct news source. My recipe holder (not that I cook, but that's ok. Saves time on cleanup not to cook.) My coupon holder. My jukebox. My dinner companion when dining out alone. My student online portfolio artist statement approver. My simple blog post editor (though I do this writing on a computer, but this could change too.) And it is a phone, too!
Every day I figure out more things to do with this dang thing and just plain love it. NOW I know why people need them all the time. It is like, or actually better than, having a laptop in your pocket. I fought the trend of having one for so long due to costs and worries over losing or dropping it, but now that I have one, it is clear that I was wrong.
Streamlines so much in my life and makes me feel like I am not forgetting to do things that need doing.
For years I've tried using various organizing and task apps with limited success as I was at different devices throughout the day. I had a palm Palm Pilot when they looked like things that came out of cereal boxes. Then a Sony Clie (very nice, but limited, too.) Then the WIFI iPads, which was close in function, but not easy to carry around. Finally I feel technology is doing what I want it to do with the Samsung Note 3. Not top of the line, but fantastic for me. It makes more sense and I will be getting back into programming a device to be a brain back up...God, oh my God, do I need one! Can you say "Brain Fog?"
So, I belatedly step into the 21st century. If only it washed floors, did dishes and laundry, and followed Toby around with a cattle prod to catch him in the act of doing bad things, it would be perfect. As a significant other, it is a little emotionally distant and cold, but I bet there is an app for that, too. I feel like I am untied from the computer and able to use seconds to check things that used to be minutes on the pc or iPad. Freedom, though partnered, is great.
What will you make today?
