Yesterday I had a soul-crushing hour afternoon meeting of PARCC training delivered by an automated voice in a video format. Minute detail about how to use the PARRC testing software, made mandatory to watch by the DOE, even though I only do potty duty hall coverage. While there is a very small chance I could be called in to cover a group taking the test, the training provided made no sense to someone who isn't familiar with the software and test implementation process. Go DOE. I just want to teach! Please! Just let me structure good classes and experiences, and let me facilitate learning and a love for learning! The rest of all the stuff we do, increasing every year, is questionable. It is very sad. For students and the profession alike.
On a cheerful note, here's a link to art about artist Jess de Wahls -- really neat use of subtle dimensionality to create low reliefs in fabric. The stitch quality its rough and vibrant, too. Digging it on this gray day!
