Catching up from my One Night of Unusual Fun the way only an RA peep has to do. Ya see, with this permanent monkey like this on the back, every activity that involves extra energy expenditure causes a backlash of pain, stiffness, and utter exhaustion. Often for DAYS after an event. That is why when I go out to have fun I enjoy it more than the average bear, I think. Yesterday was a blur, but today will be better. I better get a handle on this as there are now THREE MORE concerts planned over the next few months and I couldn't be happier (or more broke!) -- The Dresden Dolls in August, Amanda Palmer in July, and now Squeeze (the full group) in October. Seriously, I think attending live music by the groups that mean so much is an almost religious event for me, and I'd rather do that than have food. Seriously. Glad I feel that way this week! (LOL)
Starting last week, I began teaching Hapi the chorus to "Black Coffee in Bed" by Squeeze. Just a whistled melody, not the lyrics. This morning he completed the first half of it all by himself, without prompting. My son, the genius!
For an art link today I found a really neat artist who works with beads and mixed media, Jennifer A. Reis. Wowza! I love how she incorporates metals and found objects into her work and makes them harmonious with the softer materials. her use of found images is interesting, too -- like little windows on the surface. Love her craft and design. The random content is funny, too. Her bugle bead patterns provide order amidst the chaos. Also, the shape of the piece adds so much to the artwork. Love it!!
