Upon returning to the kitchen, I saw with horror that the contents of the cup where I empty my pockets had been emptied of a wad of cash. I usually don't have cash, but had some on hand for things that need doing this week. Immediately I went to find Boncuk. I know an inside job when I see one. As expected, there were tiny pieces of shredded bills all over the top of, and even inside, Hapi's cage. I counted one $20. Then another. Then another. Then a $1. Then a $5. And more.
I only rescued a five with a shredded edge. The rest was in pieces.
I gathered what I could, and sorted it on a piece of paper-mache paste covered wax paper. It will stick, but can be taken off if needed. A big puzzle. Hopefully all the numbers are there. Such is life with parrots. I will have to get to the bank today to see if I can recoup my losses.
When I realized what happened I'd angrily tossed Boncuk and his accomplice Zaza into their cage amidst protestation squawks and much flutter. I literally removed a rolled up five from his little clenched fist. Once in the cage, Juki got silent, which is not like him when he feels offended. He stayed silent as I picked it all up and tried to reassemble the damaged bills. I finally went over to him and said "What did you do?" and he wiggled over to the end of the cage and made five kissy noises, puffing up to emphasize his cuteness. Brat always redeems himself.
It could have been worse. I could have been a wealthy person and he could have destroyed more than $66. Besides, he is worth waaaaay more than that amount to me. xx
