For an art link today, here is the intricate and expressive machine embroidery of Cathy Cullis. Her small and delicate portrait pieces are like colonial miniatures. Really neat! As I weight the pros and cons of taking the hand or machine embroidery certificate through the UK guild, this type of art sways me to machine. Yes, Cullis is from the UK. Sigh. Most are these days! Cheers to a good weekend.
Such a productive day yesterday. The barn is almost cleaned out (!) of at least my stuff, and the racoons' handiwork is mostly bagged for the trash. What a mess they make! The pile of trash in front of the barn is massive and now while I often joke about my house looking like Sanford and Son's, it truly does right now. The wide wooden floorboards of the barn are again visible, and solid. I jumped up and down and there wasn't even a rattle (and that says a lot considering my mass!) Also, we cleaned off the porch and today I hope to wash the floor really well. Then maybe paint it next weekend. Might I have a Toby-free room in the house where I can disappear and read a book? The sun was beautiful, I planted things, cleaned things, life is good. Today I am not walking well, but probably would have felt the same if I'd sat on my butt. Such is life. Tim and I had a nice dinner outside after our (well, to be fair, mostly his) hard labors, which was nice, too. Today will be a day of a few chores, definitely some creativity, and some rest, too. As the school year hits the finish line, I have to be ready for all that kid energy with enough energy of my own.
