Onward through another day of many to-dos and not enough time and health to create at the level I want. At least I can go on Art Safari and find things that inspire and make me think. My brain works, even when my ankles don't! Cheers.
My Pinterest safari last night introduced me to a collage artist that really spoke to my soul. I love collage -- the often messy and incongruous layering of materials, the juxtaposition of textures, the way images can be overlaid on others. Artist Pilar Lopez Baez has a body of work that does all these things, creating magical environments that show snapshots of daily life...and often other things, too. The craftsmanship of the drawing and painting is excellent, but the real power of these pieces for me is the image layering and the rich ground she prepares. Ethereal compositions. Really beautiful and inspiring work! Another discovery last night was a photo of Cecile Perra with her fabric "dolls" or "puppets" -- this was a good find for me as I was having a hard time assessing the scale of her work. The details are so rich it would be difficult to make these if they were very small. Her figures are gorgeous and for the reasons I mentioned above, really get through the curtain of daily life and resonate!
