What are you going to make today?
Daylight Savings Time has started, so technically my wake-up is at 4:30 a.m. today. Cheers! Last night Kizzy and I hung out in the sewing room and then the bead room (for lack of better descriptors -- used to be a "bedroom" and a "dining room") and made a few little fabric shapes start to come to life with embellishment. I'd started making them have flower topped heads by taking apart silk flowers and using the petal forms. While I like the look on one of the first figures I made, it didn't seem right for these new guys, Instead, I raided the yarn bin and shredded some fabric and made my own poofy thing for the topper. adding an evil eye bead for good measure and some space. They look a little like minions to me -- I might have to revisit my faceless theme a bit to give them some more character. Heaven forbid they get playful and not look like Serious Art!! I like figure making because the material possibilities are endless. See that stray piece of hardware? There's a doll figure in that. That weird textured paper? Sure thing. It gives an artist permission to never ever throw anything away again. Which may not be a good thing. But it is.
