Still bereft of ideas. The brain still wants to be in bed. As I was trying to prod my head awake I was shouting at it "C'mon - get up! Life is more fun when you are awake!" Right. It is cold and dark this morning, with raw temps and rain on deck for the day. I want to go back to bed! Coffee #1 imbibed, the parrots are still silent.
Am happy to be stitching again on a large quilted piece that will be part of skull series. Loads of beads in the forecast. If I can make five of these shaped pieces, there might be an exhibit in there that actually works. Hmmmm. Modern world problem, for sure.
I love adding words to a quilted thing. It is hard on the fingers as I am not a good thimble user, but is worth the nuisance. Each word adds a bit of clarity and detail to the piece as a whole, and becomes embedded in the surface. Today's art link is now clear...how about embroidered words? While I don't want the words in my pieces to be the entire artwork, as I like more craft than pure concept, some of the pieces featured on this page really are neat. It is a pinterest page based on Text and Textiles by Hannah Lamb. Nice collection! Another interesting article is here about the subversive way women have used embroidery to write.
Ok, Monday's post is done. I've complained publicly about my health in true narcissistic fashion, thought about art, and found a neat link I otherwise wouldn't have looked at had I not been making this blog. Let the week begin. C'mon, Hapi, get up -- life is more fun when you are awake!
