Busy day as I am off to Merrimac Valley Quilter's tonight to give a talk. And bonus, get to see my old friend Signe and meet her sister, too!
St. Patrick's Day! Hope everyone finds your inner Irish today! As part of the "All Things Irish" day, here's a link to a fabulous embroiderer residing in Ireland that combines materials in interesting, highly textural ways. Nigel Cheney is art journal pages and drawings are as descriptive and gorgeous as the textiles are. Love his work! TextileArtist.org has a good interview with him here, but also check out his website to see the rest. I thought he was an Irish artist, but as reading has revealed, he is, you guessed it, English, but lives in Ireland. Hope that counts on SPD! My late grandfather was a fan of the English (Gasp! Horror!) and reportedly had a photo of the Queen on his wall. My appreciation of UK artists must be genetic.
