Or, maybe, it is just good old inflammation from the RA hitting the spine. Med due for that on July 18, so it is not exactly around the corner. Trying to walk it off, manage the complicated med combo, ignore it, keep moving and focusing on other things. But my good God this is severe pain. If I could cut off my right leg, I would in a heartbeat.
Pinterest is essential for pain relief. I sailed all over that baby last night for hours, and discovered a really intriguing artist from Japan who showed a lack of craft that I found refreshing. Junko Oki creates larger textile works, all looking worn and having been through much use. She also creates small pieces she calls gris gris, made from scraps that are combined into simple constructions with heavy hand stitching. Individually the pieces are interesting, but combined they represent (to me) a cabinet of medals or patches of some sort, especially since a cross image is so prominent in the designs. I relate to that as the same proportional cross motif shows up in my art, too. The concept of magical art, art infused with amuletic energy, has always interested me. Much of the text of her site is in Japanese, so the work has to speak for itself. The stitching looks almost temporary and the "anti-craft" feel is very different from work I usually respond to. Will keep an eye out for her work for sure! I love these so much!
Glad to at least found an art link today to share. Going to attempt to do my usual Saturday morning emergency clean up before art class today. No guarantees about the quality of the homestead this weekend! Cheers.
