Got the tire and rim fixed yesterday afternoon, and again sat amidst a group of people tapping away on their phones while I stitched. I could see people sneaking peeks as I worked in the corner, as if to say "What is she doing?" Truth was, my phone was charging at a nearby outlet, so I stitched to pass the time. Lots of time. I looked at massive the stacks of huge tires and abstracted designs based on the treads. A fun challenge! Several new patterns emerged that I wouldn't have come up with otherwise. Good gig. Once the repair was made, the car felt MUCH better -- the cracked rim was causing some instability, methinks -- feels like the car got a pair of new shoes.
Fun webcast this week with Amanda Palmer. She is so funny and real. Her Patreon only webcasts are great -- her at her latptop, fielding questions and comments from fans, making up spontaneous songs, telling us about her daily doings, artistic and otherwise. She sang an impromptu song about marriage, and one about rabbits clogging up the internet. While both were humorous and loose, they both ended up having profound meaning. She is one bright bulb. The poets of our generation are the musicians who really write songs and aren't afraid to actually say something, as opposed to the beat and whiny grub that is all over the airways. Yesterday in class I cranked 80's tunes and literally danced as I cleaned. With kids in the room happily working on their art. Haircut 100, Human League, Visage -- good stuff. And you can dance to it, too.
Cheers and happy Saturday!
