Today a link to a neat artist's website, Cas Holmes, who makes art that captures elements of the ordinary day and environment, selecting elements from time and place and preserving them in free-formed mixed media textile collage. Yeah, she is from the UK. While the color palette is not my own, I like the adventurousness of the format of her quilting -- installation sculpture, irregular shaped mixed media with paper and other found materials. Lately I have been collecting all sorts of metallic things...hmmm... The way she integrates drawing with embroidery is thoughtful, too. Enjoy!
Also, here is an article that reflects recent research into the direct benefit of art experiences on the human body. The chemistry of the human body is actually altered when study participants engage in looking at art, or even better, making art. I love the scientific data backing up what artists and art teachers have known all along. Keep it coming, research world!
Enjoy the day, it will be over before we know it!
