The pets in our lives bring on all sorts of changes that we never would have expected. Yes, I think of Toby and the changes I've had to make because of him -- nothing left on the floor, ever, trash guarded like the Queen of England, acceptance of a certain amount of material destruction at his discretion. I also think of good changes, like the dietary ones. Like the walks I like to take with the dogs when it isn't freezing out. Like the routines I have at morning and evening mealtimes to play with and feed "The Farm." The snuggles at night. They are part of our lives and are family, for sure.
The Worcester Art Museum has an upcoming exhibit about a favorite American pet, the cat. Meow: A Cat Inspired Exhibit will open the end of May and run through early September. The art looks varied and really fun. Additionally, there is a link to the WAM's page about their very own pet! When the Higgin's Armory closed and the contents were acquired by the WAM, there also was a dog named Helmut that came, too. SO cute. I bet WAM didn't expect that! How good of them to take the hound and give him a special home with the objects he grew up with. I'd love to meet him! Helmut's page includes images kids have drawn of him. So up my alley!
Off for another adventure in Middle School Art land! The drawing above was done by an adorable sixth grader yesterday in class. She observed Hapi and this is the precious result. Ah, Art!
