A busy week ahead as I return to work and try to pick up all the pieces that I left. I will be returning much physically stronger than I was before leaving, and a lot lighter, too. Happy that weight is just falling off right now -- not sure why. I thought it was the medication I got from surgery that killed my appetite, but I haven't taken it in a while and am still losing. Maybe it is just my body balancing itself out after months (if not years) of compensating for pain and back injuries. If this keeps going, I will be at my target weight by springtime, and will feel better, too. That is the important thing -- less weight improves how I feel, mentally and physically. I feel like I have another chance to try to keep myself in good shape, and I don't want to waste it.
Art progress of yesterday: I have moved my big Epson printer into a better location for making fabric, so should be able to start really playing with this end of things soon. I am really interested in seeing what happens when digital embroidery and printed fabric are combined. Verrrrry different from where I've been artistically, but maybe that is a good thing. In looking for ways others use this medium, I came across a fun site by an artist who uses Spoonflower.com to make her fabric. It is neat to see her collage techniques turn into quilted and embroidered works. The image above is from the artist's website (I can not find her name on the page!) The site is Peony and Parakeet. It helps that she has a budgie!
Also, I want to link out to my friend Judy Hartman's blog, Art and Whimsy, as she celebrates her 800th post over ten years of blogging! She is consistently curious, playful, and positive. She creates wonderful portraits, landscapes, and more using a variety of techniques and skills. Always inspiring! Go Joooooody! Lover her work, love her too!
Onward to another year of creative efforts and dedication to exploring our creative sides. What will you make today?
