I looked on the Embroiderer's Guild of America's website yesterday, sniffing around to see what distance learning courses were available, as I think it might be a fun form of Professional Development that I have to do now, anyway. There is a more diverse set of options on the site, but it seems to be more craft media-specific and less geared towards integrative techniques than the UK group. I am sure there are exceptions to the rule, but the website reflects more specific project-based curriculum.
There is, however, an interesting display of embroidered art made in the 18th century by a woman with no arms! She stitched and even threaded needles with her teeth and toes. If that isn't motivation, I don't know what is. This morning the link is elusive, but I will find it again and post it when I can scour the phone.
Another fun link I came across is one on Sashiko embroidery. There is also beautiful examples of goldwork, including this phoenix. Well illustrated, well researched site. Enjoy!
Game on. Happy Thursday!
