Fun day today with a full deck of classes doing everything from perspective drawing, clay, and embroidery. What fun is this!! Exceptionally grateful for the help of my student teacher, who is eager to learn through actual experience of managing a class and presenting lessons. Totally a win-win situation on many levels. It is like being able to have two of me present at one time. I've been lucky that both student teachers I've had have been mature, sensitive, intelligent young women that "get it" when it comes to kids. Thanks to my intern, I will be able to hang in there today and be present with the kids. Yay!
Art link today: well, if you could call it art. I am not sure. It is imagery, and it can be disturbing to look at. There are some people who are self-mutilating with thread into the "fabric" of their own skin. I suppose it is like a thread tattoo, but the pain must be much worse, and the possibility of infection higher. I think it is really, unpleasant, but that's why they make vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Here's a Google search only because I found it disturbing to go much further than this to share the "medium." I can't really say "enjoy it" as I found it so perplexing that I didn't. Still, in my attempts to share contemporary and historical art every day, here it is. Yikes. As to WHY artists do this, there's a lot out there about it. Here.
On that note, I am going to complete stitching my parakeet today. On fabric.
Cheers!
