To all my friends, check your social media accounts for requests from A Certain Stalker. It seems she is branching out from Facebook and has solicited “friendship/following” status from friends of mine, on Instagram now, for whatever reason. Doesn’t make any sense to me, but the mind can be a scary place. She is as persistent as a Gloucester greenhead. Sigh.
Had a great week at school. This summer has delivered more than its share of inspiration and learning. Awesome indeed! I reluctantly signed up for a Photoshop account so I can use it with Corel (copying and pasting between programs works!) -- each program has unique features. Photoshop is a space hog, though.
Tried a photomontage yesterday of Gelibolu (Gallipoli) -- the small patch of beach that my ex-husband’s family and I used to visit in the 90’s. There was a little boy, Chiangir, who was my pal back then. We swam together, he tried to teach me Turkish. We went to the bazaar together, too. Sweet kid. He is all grown up and on Facebook, and sends me “I love you” messages every now and then. He is visiting the same beach and sent me photos of the places that are burned into my soul’s memory. The well where cows knocked me out of the way. The patch of stand where we pulled the car up right to the water’s edge, where a herd of goats (covered in bells and ribbons) once ran right through our spot. Everyone else ran, I was delighted to sand in the middle of the passing herd! And, the sunflower fields. Ah, those sunflowers. The colored stone beach. I still have a jar of stones from that beach. They look colorless until submerged in water. Ah, the memories. I made a graphic using Chiangir’s photos and might develop it into a textile piece.
Gotta get my physical space organized and cleaned up today so I can devote more energy to my virtual one this weekend. Everything is getting out - trashbag, recycle bag, yard sale bag, scan or file it box. That’s it. Where’s the National Guard when you need it? Instead I have a green parrot sticking his foot in my coffee. Not sure this plan will be a full success, All I can do is try. Cheers.
