I am looking at a half-uninstalled dishwasher that doesn’t shut, headed for the junk heap today. It lived a very fine life and I will miss it. Mom and Dad bought it a year or two before she died, which was 2001, so it Was Time. Bless you Tim for assisting in trying to pull it out and giving me time to clean underneath before the new (freaking expensive) one is installed tonight. My God. Let’s just say now I know why the cats sat staring at the dishwasher. I had to get stainless steel finish, which I am not crazy about. I think I might paint my refrigerator something fun as I HATE IT and it is not a candidate for resale. This kitchen needs some creative TLC bad. Needs cleaning badder, though, beginning with the floor this morning before work. WORK. Sigh. I am not a domestic goddess!
It was a great summer break, after all. A nice balance of coursework, pet time, artwork, and not too many naps. Having not one, but TWO AFP concerts was a fantastic way to get out a bit and feed the soul. I look forward to getting going with the school year and know it will be a super busy one. Over a hundred new kids headed my way and bunches more that I already know. My classroom is in dire need of organization and I am praying the legs hold out!
For an art link today, I am connecting to artist Sara Impey’s page to share her really cool text based quilts. Machine embroidered poetry and verse...hmmmm!!! I might have linked to her before as her name feels familiar, but it is really neat work! I came across her book and can’t wait to read it. I accidentally ordered it (lol) then rationalized it by saying “If I have to spend twenty five times as much on a new dishwasher that I care nothing about, what’s the price of one measly book that will make me happier?” My brain is twisted. But as my mom taught me, books are never a waste of money. Once you learn something new, you have it forever. That theory has served me well and I will not feel guilty over a little art book indulgence! Since she makes machine quilted work, I am hoping to gain a bit of technical insight as well as have fun with the concepts. Going to start my certificate program this month, if all goes well. Cheers to a creative day!
