A major good thing to come out of this brief respite was that I successfully boarded the birdies with their Uncle Matty at WoofMeow in Derry NH. I was able to help set them up in their cages and leave their special foods and treats. When I returned Matt told me that Kizzy had several loud tantrums and was a brat to one of the workers, screaming at him every time he entered the bird room. It seems I have a problem macaw. At home he rarely yells and is generally a quiet and docile critter. Go figure. Brat.
When I went to get him, the kids working there asked me to get him myself as he'd been so intimidating. I walked into the bird room and Kiz came over to front of the cage, put his beak between two bars, and made kissy sounds that we do together at bedtime. He missed me, and snuggled right up on my shoulder. The workers were amazed. I guess he scared them a lot! I forget how intimidating a macaw can seem when you don't know them personally So, while I still need to find help to come over if I am in a physical bind on a day to day basis, I can rest easy knowing there is a place they can go where they will be safe and tolerated. At least all but Kizzy. The other birds were equally happy to see me and Hap even learned new sounds from the other birds while boarding. Overall a successful experience, so I feel now that if I have to travel a bit, for work or pleasure, or have a physical problem, there is an available solution. That feels great!
So this week is bound to be a difficult one with the last dose of prednisone tapering off and having to deal with the Back Issue again. Hoping for a miracle with spine injections this week and getting back to business in my classroom, home, and most important, my art room. I have a big idea I need to work on, now, and time is of the essence. My twenty four hour vacation worked wonders. Thanks a great deal to sweet and interesting company, and pet care peace of mind.
What will you make today?
