If only parrots could draw. Or paint. Or sculpt. I could give the feathered kids an art project and let them work out some of the hormonal stress. This site lists 100 Art Therapy ideas that could help the human equivalent of stress, seasonal and otherwise. And this site does too -- although they may share some ideas. I get to practice my own form of being in the moment with Hapi as I can't hold a grudge or any fear about the bite. It is over, and showing fear or anger only prompts him to be angrier and more fearful. Parrot ownership teaches you that you have to be willing to "take the bite" sometimes as it is just part of the package. Parrots can be like energy mirrors. It is excellent energy practice to live with one...or five. I am grateful to see a happy, healthy, chatty bird in his house (cage) this morning, and while the bite is particularly nasty, I can still bead -- so all is ok. When I said good morning to Hapi, he delivered a loud body noise and laughed at me. Oh, adolescence. Onward!
A bonus -- the image above is linked to a site that shows you how to draw an African Grey parrot. Enjoy!
