Slides are now passe in favor of the Internet, but due to copyright issues and varying photographic quality of artwork, not all art images are available on the Internet. A good art slide library is the spine of a college art history class, and judging by this collection, this one was a killer. I haven't looked through all of the ones I got (there are many) but was able to see work by Rauchenberg, Etruscan art, Medieval Manuscripts, and German expressionism. Wowza. I haven't a clue how to look at this situation...I want to empty the drawers and use them for beads, but then where do these gorgeous things go? Houston, we have a problem. Add to it that I am haunted by the thought of about 20 other drawer units, filled and unfilled, are sitting unloved in the dark. Heading for the recycling bin. Oh, what to do...Glad I have a barn? And a slide scanner?
I am thinking of how these images could become part of my artwork...scan and combine in layers on fabric? I have a *thing* for old encyclopedias and dictionaries -- and now slides. Why, God, why? Why torture me with such beauty being called trash by others? Sigh. Life is interesting. This is most definitely a modern world problem. I also think maybe the units and/or slides can be resold to collectors, which would be a happy ending. Someone out there must need them and appreciate them as much as I seem to. Sigh.
Life is funny. Cheers.
