Went to ArtsFest last night at RMHS with Tim. Was nice to see so many people enjoying the artwork. The kids were adorable in their little suits and dresses, and the art looked nice. Not enough of it this year, but some years that is how it rolls. Looking at the little ones' art is so inspiring -- the freshness and "newness" of the shapes and fluid lines reminds me of how new and exciting art must be for them (and is for me, but I have lost that playful edge.) Just adorable and intuitive. I left feeling, again, like the luckiest person in the world to have the opportunity to do this for a living. Amen.
When we came back, we took the pups out for a walk in near darkness. Toby chortled along, zig-zagging from vertical surface to vertical surface like a crazed loon, happy to be alive and out, free to pee. He seems to have gained a little weight and is more roly-poly than usual, and as he walks his chunky mass has a new and humorous jiggle. The question came to mind "If he were a music group, which one would he be?" I couldn't think of one. Maybe Jimmy Buffet? Motorhead? This morning as I watched him skillfully retrieve the paper plate that held cat food from the shelf where it was "just" within reach (thank you, Seamus the Kitty) and lick it clean, it came to me. Not a group, but a song. "I Got To Be Me" by Sammy Davis Jr. That's my boy. That's kind of me, too, so he is my son, in good and bad! Not that I lick the cat food plate, but my kitchen looks a bit rough right now. Sigh.
Getting ready to launch a new class at Create Artisan Studio for May: Mixed Media Collage on Canvas! Stay tuned. Ideas are brewing and it will be a fun, new adventure in creating. May looks busy already, so I appreciate being able to come home and undo yesterday's mess today. Cheers!
