Busy day today. Fun day at school followed by a quick farm feed, then off to spend time with my friend and awesome vet Carol, sans pet. We are having dinner and attending a concert by a wonderful singer I haven't seen since 1991 or so -- Francis Dunnery. Front row reserved table. Just fine evening ahead! The only thing dampening the night is that because Tim and I each got tickets to different events for the same night and decided to go our own ways on this one, he has invited his ex-girlfriend along, and I am jealous. They both insist the relationship is platonic, and I do believe them, but there is something that just bugs me about it. They both will enjoy catching up and seeing the music, no harm in that. Basic human jealousy on my part. Silly. Annoying, And all too human. Finding the lesson in this one. There always is one.
Attempted carjacking up the street yesterday afternoon in a very public place, in broad daylight. Residents advised to keep their windows and doors locked until the suspect is apprehended. Add to it an ISIS Crucifixion of a priest and their promise to kill Israeli children, several local bank robberies, and a professor at Salem State who was viciously stabbed 20-30 times with a "metal sculpture tool" by a student he didn't know two days ago, and this world seems to be spinning out of control. So much unnecessary sadness. Tim and I sat and listened to an audiobook last night for a bit of time. I stitched, he painted a lovely picture in my sketchbook, and it was relaxing, productive, and peaceful. Art has its place in this world.
With this seemingly out of control world we can choose to spin along with it, and find ourselves on our phones at eleven p.m. taking an online quiz to define what our preference for nail polish says about our deepest, innermost selves, or we can pick up a pencil, needle, or brush, and find out for ourselves. Not a perfect answer, but I find peace amidst the storm in it.
For an art link today, here is a knitted duck. That's all. Well, actually, I like how the artist made a shaped piece and how it captures their awkward flying, and all the colors in their feathers. I don't like how the artist has it listed for 28 pounds, even if it is for charity. Sigh. Not that art should be too expensive for people to buy, but this must have taken more than a while to create. But that is another rant for another day. Cheerio!
