I took a few pictures of Ellie in her appointment last night as she was being her adorable self, snorking so loud that Carol couldn't hear her heart or lungs. I was promised a swift death if I included Carol in any pictures (like me, she avoids the camera at all times. I get that!) Carol's tech, Monica, was so great in snuggling up the little girl, that I had to get a few shots. Ellie is such a sweet dog -- good natured, well behaved, loving and lovable. Often overlooked in favor of the Tobster's chaotic path. I need to take her out by herself for more rides and adventures and a little solo Mama time. Looks like we will have the chance for this bonding experience as her nails have grown to a point where they are curling into her little foot pads, and will need more aggressive clipping. Ellie hates to go outside and I think she'd be happy to live on a couch for the rest of her life. She likes leash walks, but this winter they've been limited. We will be a frequent flier at Petsmart grooming for the next few months!
Another discovery last night was that Toby has picked up Lyme disease. He is asymptomatic, which is a good thing. I read that many dogs are. Medication for thirty days and crossed fingers that it stays dormant. My shadow dog Toby is a lot like me in many ways -- disorganized, funny, with a large lust for life (and a large body, too!) He has a great sense of humor and happy go lucky attitude despite health issues. Addison's Disease can not be a fun condition to have. We even share a prednisone prescription! Let's hope that he is not plagued with the chronic pain from the arthritis that often presents with Lyme. That is one way I hope we differ for the rest of his short, destructive life.
So, the dogs are now tuned up and ready for spring and I am too! Here's a neat article on the importance of petting your dog, in addition to praising them. Good research to prove the importance of snuggling the pups on a daily basis! A life spent making artwork and petting dogs should be a happy one for all concerned!
What will you make today?
