In theory, this is great. In practice, it is sometimes tough to do. Especially when "good" physical days are not a daily guarantee. When I am feeling physically well is so easy to keep going beyond what is reasonable because things need to get done. Yesterday was one of those days. It was a "good" day and I managed to scrub the interior of my fridge to create a bleached out, sparkling cabinet of wonder. The angle needed to reach the interior was just annoying enough to cause The Back to let me know it was not in agreement with my choice of activities. Still, it got done. Next was the bird room -- scrubbing cage bottoms, floors, under the radiator, and around the windows. Egads, that's a doozy of a task. Would not be nearly as bad if my naughty dog Toby had better potty habits, but that is another long story. After about six-plus hours of continual lugging and scrubbing, the body was annoyed -- feet and up from RA, and spine down from The Back. Then there was food shopping and lugging. Oy vey!
I also ventured out to my porch, finding that Some Creature had gained entry and had been happily living out there. Shivers up and down my spine at the thought. I live on the edge of wetlands and all sorts of things live in the great green wilderness. I've always been friendly to wildlife, but in looking around the foundation of my house and seeing how erosion has left the ancient stone walls so vulnerable, this has changed. Off to the hardware store for...gulp...poison. Like Bill Murray in Caddyshack, this is a new war that demands my attention and time, and harsher defense. Off to buy a carload of dirt today, to be repeated until the foundation is covered sufficiently and then it is foundation crack-repair time. Having birds means having exposed nuts and seeds, and Creatures from the Deep like that. Especially when it starts to get cold. Be it chipmunk, mice, or swamp rats, they need to go away immediately. I hope they read my blog and do not need to ingest poison to find out my true feelings. Maybe I should print this out and leave it on the porch door as they might not have devices.
So, the week begins filled with more tasks than can be done, more nagging physical complaints that will go unspoken, but also more opportunities to enjoy life and create. If I can get up earlier, that is!
What will you make today?
