Today I am sharing a link to something completely different than things I usually post. This is a review of the recent Istanbul Biennial exhibition. The review describes a powerful exhibition by artist Michael Rakowitz that explores the artistic contribution of the Armenian culture in Istanbul, and the genocide itself. Bringing together rubbings of architectural monuments and bones dug up from the notorious island where stray dogs were left to die by the Turks in 1911 (due to overpopulation) the artist makes quite a statement about the Armenian genocide, which unfortunately, many Turks still believe didn't happen. Haunting work. On that cheerful note, off for a day of who knows what!
