When I think of all the art I've made that I actually like (like most artists, it is a percentage!) it comes down to stitching. Making marks with thread. Using a needle -- with thread, beads, or something else. It is a common element to all of my textile work -- the repetitive nature of the stitch. Be it by hand or machine, I love it. I need to do it. It is just as important to me as anything in my house that needs to get done. That is hard to understand for someone who sees how I live with three dogs, two cats, and five parrots under my roof, in an old, old house that is in need or repairs or cleaning at every turn. My stress level has been off the charts over the last two weeks due to domestic issues, and my body is now feeling the fallout. No thanks, Arthur. Just a few hours of stitching helped me relax and unwind. I slept pretty well for the first time in days. Ah, beads.
I am about to start a mailing list for people who have submitted their emails via my website. I'm calling it "A Million Stitches" as I estimate I must have hit that mark in my lifetime! The small pieces that are being finished up now will be available via the list first, then will be put on Etsy. It will be great to have them done and be on to new, exciting, and most important, therapeutic works! Happy Sunday, everyone.
What will you make today?
