Having this three day weekend has made me not just look forward to the upcoming summer break, but salivate for it. The thought that time will be my own to use as I can, is delicious. I love my job very, very much...but to apply the same energy I give to it to my own causes is undeniably attractive. I truly think everyone should have the schedule I have to fully develop their passions and LIVE their lives. So many things to do. Art, writing, web-work, marketing, sleeping (but not too much!) Life just keeps unrolling like a movie with plot twists, new characters, and new scenes. Looking forward is often more fun than looking backward. I keep waiting for the good parts and hope there are more.
My mama birdie at the front door now has three little brown speckled eggs to guard in my mailbox. If I use the door she flies out in terror, so it looks like I won't be using it for a while. Maybe I can cover the box a bit? I don't want to move it as it is under an overhang, and apparently that is where she likes it. She built it with me coming and going, so I hope she factored that in to the equation when choosing the location. Much to my delight, yesterday I took a chance and checked the tightly woven, cylindrical nest under my porch to find that there were two tiny, pulpy-looking, chicks piled on each other, a few little feathers coming through or stuck to them from the nest. Their eyes were not yet open. Their little heartbeats radiated through their tiny bodies. PRECIOUS. One little blue egg remained unhatched. As I looked, a pair of of ticked off robins' straddled nearby branches yelling at me. I made it up to them by placing a little container of seed on the beam across from the nest. Hope they find it. I put another seed dish on my porch for the sparrows. So happy to have new birdie life around me!
Also reminded today that I have to be more careful when doing physical things. I've felt pretty good in the back lately, and I tackle a little too much sometimes. Yesterday was like that. Yup, overdid it. Back and legs are singing a familiar chorus. Trying not to panic. Was it the leaning over to wash baseboards ? Was it lifting water buckets upstairs to clean the floors? Was it lifting trash out of the barrel? Was it carrying groceries? Dunno. Hoping all the activity just aggravated the area and didn't cause new problems. Oy vey! Have a really great ice wrap that fits around my hips to cover The Area of The Back. Very soothing. Hoping for a trip to the MFA today where walking may, or may not, help. Better refreeze the belt. Cheers!
