Yesterday I bit the bullet and bought yet another new printer. I've been through so many in the past few years. First, a series of cheap HP's that had sheet feeder problems. Then clogged ink head problems. Then I switched to Epson and tried a manual after market ink tank system, that failed and was a waste of money and time. So, I was back to spending nearly $60 for ink at every fill up (which is often if you print on cloth.) Epson inks are Durabrite, pigment, which means they are more permanent and lightfast than others. HP washes right out. Epson now has a printer that comes with a built in ink tank, so cartridge rejection isn't an issue. It was expensive (for a printer) but will even out in cost over the next few months. The top loading sheet feeder is good too, as the bottom tray loading one is hard for curly cloth. Now I don't have to hold my breath and worry if I am going to run out of ink midway through printing every time I print on fabric. Hoping it works.
I really want to investigate more stitched fabric image collage using the amazing print resources I've hoarded over the years -- I have amassed encyclopedias, historical photos, etc. -- that are begging for use. Hmmmm....game on!
A simple art link today to artist Laura McKellar who has some cool embroideries featuring prints on fabric. Neat and nice integration of stitch texture and printed image, which can be hard to do.
And here is a cat sitting on a chair. Enjoy!
