Looks like it will be a Hapi Wednesday for the kids (and me!)
An interesting article showed up on Facebook yesterday about the connection between narcissism and "professional" artists. Research has shown a relationship between the size of an artist's signature and the inflation of their ego / their level of narcissism._ Interesting data and study, though I wonder how it compares to general handwriting analysis. In reading about this further, I found this article that also explores the relationship between NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) and art. Not encouraging, and what strikes me is the lack of art SKILL involved with the so-called artists to begin with. Ick. Not my cup of tea. Introspection is often an essential element of creating, and artists can "go too deep" sometimes when fishing around inside their heads and hearts for content, but to call it narcissism is something else altogether. Interesting and thought provoking. More studies needed! More real art needed, too. For the record, I don't think I even sign my art most of the time (but that doesn't mean I am not a narcissist...hey, isn't this song about me?)
This blog often reads as a narcissistic rant as it is my mental dental floss dumping ground. Why is it public? I guess because it makes me feel like doing it might pass along links to others they might not see. And share my experience, for the -2 cents it is worth. Making it public makes it more of a "thing" to me that I feel obligated to do, and it sets the tone for my day. Art, art, art, sun up to sun down. Every day. Staying physically functional, one artistic thought at a time!
