A pug's teeth are buried beneath mounds of flesh in their well-hidden, inaccessible mouths. If you are Toby, you buck like a bronco when anyone dares to try to get in there and clean them. When peeking in there last night, we discovered that Toby's teeth were completely packed in a horrid something that defied identification. It was not just the usual plaque and calcification. This was different. I will not get into more detail, but let's just say cats were most likely involved. Carol being Carol saw a challenge that needed meeting, and spent a long time getting in there and removing said Disgusting Evidence of Bad Habits while I threw my substantial body weight on Toby to try to restrain him. It was exhausting. He lost at least one tooth in the game, but that would have come out anyway. This dog will seriously be the end of me.
Following Toby, Tilly's poor little mouth was examined and Carol again scaled as much as she could without sedation (his liver is bad, so this is a tough thing to do that I avoid.) He was a Good Boy. But he always is! Carol, despite not feeling well, took her time with my kids and gave them the best of care. I can not recommend her enough as The Only Vet I want my kids to see. Ever.
For an art link today, I am looking at Audrey Walker. Her heavily shaded figures have luminous colors and intricate stitched details. Really beautiful work! The layers of stitching blend like minute strokes of paint, creating moody, suspenseful figures that remind me of those by early Picasso or even Renaissance sketches. Great vibes! Her subjects feature figures engaged in pauses -- of looking at something, being with each other, not hugely animated expressions. Moments. Intriguing! A good interview with her can be found here on the V&A website, and the largest collection of her work online that I could find in one place is on Pinterest, here. Enjoy!
Onward!
