Today it is overcast, cool, and raining hard. And best of all, it doesn't matter if it is Sunday or not! The grocery shopping is done, errands are run, and I am happily trapped inside my art cave with ideas coming out my ears. I feel like that little kid on vacation -- I can stay up as late as I want, and do whatever I want! It doesn't matter that some of what I want to do is laundry and cleaning -- there is no immediate pressure to race through it all. Ahhhhh, summer. I just got a new book that is loaded with inspiration and ideas -- and I think it is what my brain has been waiting for to help me get the skull piece done this summer. It is all about working with metals in fiber. Have only flipped through it but can see how it will lend itself to what I want to do. Dimensional elements with metallic and embellished surfaces...yummy. The author is Alsyn Midgelow-Marsden, and her work is absolutely stunning. If I am trapped in a cave today, I couldn't ask for more visual inspiration! Nine weeks of artistic retreat, here we come...
What will you make today?
