Good old RA kicked my butt for the past two days in the energy and pain department. Am grateful that I get the bad boy dose of prednisone (and some relief) tomorrow. My house is an unholy filth pit, there is laundry to be done, and I might need to hit the grocery store for basic survival. But I neeeeeed art time! Hard to put that genie back in the bottle. Additionally, for the past three days I’ve gotten visual migraines in the morning, including now. While not painful, the visual disruption is disconcerting and annoying, A few times these preceded a real migraine, but thankfully this hasn’t happened lately. Maybe I am not drinking enough Diet Coke on the weekends...will have to fix that...
My young Saturday student Anna surprised me with a special gift yesterday that was incredibly kind and thoughtful. She found two beautiful handmade dolls to add to the collection in my cabinet. One is a little cowboy doll, from Mexico, maybe? The other is a Chinese mama doll with a baby in a sling on her back, It is adorable. I am struck by Anna’s thoughtfulness and generosity in bringing those little people over. I might start drawing / painting / digitally arting photos of those dolls...hmmmm!
Am considering going to a parrot conference for a day next Friday. Long drive, costs money I probably shouldn’t spend, but might help me take better care of my babies. There is a workshop on Quakers (though mine seem happy and healthy aside from Zaza’s congenital issues.) and free flight, I could probably find all the same info on the Internet if needed. Somehow, though, being there might lead me to more insight. Anti plucking-advice or resources? I’d have to leave at 6 am and would be gone through early evening, but it might be a good thing to do. Will see how the week unfolds. It is summer, after all, and the time to be doing things like this. Education and growth. Fuels the soul.
Boncuk just brought half a cherry from last night’s supper out to the kitchen and was munching it on my shoulder. He let it drop to the floor, creating a blood like puddle. He bobbed up and down to show me how happy he was that this happened, oblivious to the mess. Then he preened my left eyebrow with a cherry covered beak. He is such a happy little fella. Hapi has sat on his perch eating Harrison’s pellets non-stop for forty minutes. Kizzy sporadically says “Whaa-hht?” from his cage, making sure I know he’s there, and Cairo makes satisfied sighs. Then Boncuk casually walks over, picks up a pair of reader glasses, and flies them back to his cage for safekeeping. The dude had an agenda to distract me then steal my stuff. Brat.
For an art link today, here is a site where you can sign up to receive tutorials on digital art and access pdf’s of lessons -- and they look really good! The site is by WACOM, who makes pen tablets and the uber-lux device the Cintiq. Great resources to explore for the digitally minded!
Onward to untangle the snarl of my domestic environment. Would rather be painting dolls. Cheers.
