I dabbled with drawing digitally into one collage last night. I do so little digital art these days as I see so much done by kids, and feel like it is hard to be original with the medium, But, I am trying. I took one of the draft scans and played with it, thinking like a painter. Not sure what I think, but am glad that I don’t have to lug around a canvas for the rest of my life! And I can make other versions. These four canvases could spawn a year’s work. I see dimensional butterflies popping off the surface, too. Not sure why. It is hard to think like a painter when one is a fiber artist! My "digital style" is very Basquiat. Lol.
Traffic, though, is another issue. I have spent three hours a day sitting in the hot sun on 93. Going anywhere from zero to ten miles per hour. Baking, burning, working on a good tan. I have tried back roads. Staying the course. Combining parts of each. All three days I have felt like painful death upon arrival to both class and my home. Andrew suggested the app “Waze” which uses GPS and real time data to find the best route that has the least traffic. I downloaded it and will try it today. Pray for me.
Happy tonight is date night with Tim. We need to do something fun together. Have to think about something cool, literally and metaphorically. Although just hanging out with him is fun for me! Maybe a hot date rolling thread and doodling together will fill the bill. With some really good coffee.
Hmmm.
Overall, it is exciting to be in Boston again (once I am there!) The pedestrians wander like zombies and seem mostly unaware of traffic rules, jumping into the street to cross on green lights, and even what looks like playing Pokemon Go as they jaywalk. Frightening, really. The architecture is so familiar, and the layout of the land is internalized so I don’t have to even think about where I am going, and every day has been sunny. Very visually stimulating and energetic. Life is good. I am happy to return to my suburban estate at the end of the day, though.
For an art link today, here is a link to digital art quilts on Pinterest. Fiber peeps have been cranking on the tech for years, too, and it is interesting to see how the technology is used compared to the paintings we’ve been seeing. Hmmm...so much to think about this summer! Cheers.
