I had really interesting dreams, last night. Here’s a recap of strange happenings…skip on if you dislike surrealism. There was a lady showing me and others around a large house and property, immaculate (animal-free lol). She was tall and large, and wore a bluish-green kaftan- type dress. Interior rooms were white, yellow, soft. Beautiful mansion -- large rooms, lots of windows. Large, rolling green grounds. As we went from room to room, different things appeared. An expansive sea and gorgeous landscape, which I’ve seen in my dreams before, from one wall sized window. Three people were in the water, playing with dolphins, but they were far away and hard to see. I went to get my camera and was then in a new room. I was realizing I had tickets to see Adam Ant that night, and my cousin Steve was going with me, Huh? Then I realized I hadn’t gotten tickets after all. But then I was in a different room, outside of which there was a green rolling yard with a large group of people laying on the grass, stoned. I left that scene quickly and was then in a white concrete stairwell, like the one you might find in a parking garage. I walked up to the top (gee - my legs worked!) and entered a room that seemed to be connected to a swimming pool of some sort. I could smell chlorine. Why pool upstairs, though? And where was it? There was a dumbwaiter-type door on the wall. I was investigating it when three people came in and said I was in the right place. They went to a wall that had looked solid and drew back curtains to reveal a large pool and garden area (we were on the ground again, now, not upstairs.) The multl-level pool was surrounded by plants and trees, and everyone there was happy. Just relaxing, Almost cult-like happy. The lady was there too, and she just kind of floated around talking to people and laughing, too., Like a hostess. It was a beautiful place. The next scene of the dream involved a few of the same people and I looking in a pile of cardboard boxes and finding a furry rodent-like animal in one of them, happily eating something. We were brainstorming how to get rid of it. It peeked its head out of the box and was really like a critter I’d never seen before -- a rat like face but a big one, with dark gray fur that was not like a rodent’s . Weird. I was reaching for a box to put it in, a wooden cigar box I have on my bookshelf in my house, and then I woke up. The end.
I remembered having long, deep, and meaningful conversations with the tall lady in blue several times, but couldn’t remember the content of them. It felt like an emotional dream, pretty intense. I haven’t a clue what it all means, and could play with the interpretation for hours with no result. Dreams are so strange, and mine are so vivid they feel like an alternate reality sometimes, Especially when I “visit” imaginary places I’ve seen in dreams before. Oh, the brain is so creative…
Last day off until Friday. Seems like a marathon ahead! The worst part will be getting there and lugging stuff. After that, I feel like this is an indulgent Art Camp and can’t wait to see what I can take away from it. I want to make at least one series of smaller pieces this summer, too - maybe the course will help me in that direction. Boy, is being an artist great. Life is never boring and there is always something new to explore. Just gotta keep the body going long enough to do it all.
For an art link today, here is a “stating the obvious” link because it might be an unknown resource to some. Google has a wonderful arts site, Google Arts and Culture. You can access curated focused exhibits as well as use a search feature that will provide you with photographic images and artworks. Just wonderful. As I just finished a 24 hour audio lecture on Ancient Egypt (which was great!) here is a link to a search of a beautiful place in the world that I hope to see again some day. While images can't be linked to on the Google site itself, using the "Search for similar images" feature makes it possible to find a link-able image. Truly, Google has changed the world! Cheers.
