Am thinking of how I will use my newest fascination...cigar boxes. Do I make art out of them (think Cornell and parrots, here) or store art treasures in them? The size is great for small things. I love that they are crafted well and made of wood. I dislike plastic these days. The wood is beautiful. Here is a Pinterest page on cigar box assemblages for those who also might need the fix: https://www.pinterest.com/zophisticat/cigar-box-craft-art/_
We interrupt this blog writing as the three dogs have been quiet in the yard for too long...too quiet. I pop out to the yard to find little Tilly still exploring, and Ellie guiltily running my way with the "I didn't do it! He did! It's not my fault!" face that she wears so well. Toby AWOL. Ah, Toby. Just as I retrieve his leash and am heading out the front door, my home phone goes off, and then my cell. A kind dog-friendly neighbor was letting me know that the Tobster was terrorizing Temple Street yet again. He must have been having a ball, visiting and marking all his usual places. Kicking mulch and growling afterwards like The Big Man that he truly is.
I wonder...why did God invent pugs, anyway? Sigh.
I find him -- wait for it -- right in front of my house. He managed to flip over the trash barrel and was munching on garbage and chicken scraps. I call to him loudly then remember he can't hear me, which must make his escapes even more fun. His tail was whipping around like it always does (I cll it his "happy meter") and he was having a great time for himself. Knowing he won't come to me directly, I picked up the trash and went back in the house. He followed me to the door (after leaving a few more marks in my front yard) and waited for me to let him in. Ah, Toby. I embrace your lust for life and your inner hellion, dude. Keep being you, big guy. Actually, had he not done this, I wouldn't have had a brisk walk in the fresh, cold air to wake me up a bit. That felt good.
Ok, back to cigar boxes. Instead of making art with them, they are great little storage devices. Here's a Pinterest page dedicated to cigar box hacks. I am in love with some of these!! Simple and smart. "Oooh-ahhhh" as an old boyfriend from Kentucky used to say.
Time to prepare myself and my house for today's art classes. Hapi is yelling for toast, of which I have none, so will have to make him some pancakes instead. It's a tough life being an animal resident here.
Have a creative day!
