As I left his house last night, large fluffy white things had started to fall. I slipped into bed with my warm and fuzzy crew, anticipating an inch or two of the dreaded stuff overnight. Pshaw - this morning there was no less than 4" on my railing. Booo. The first shovel worthy snow of the season. At least many of us have the day off! After last winter, this white coating is no longer pretty or nice. It is downright threatening. Is this the beginning of a season like THAT ONE? Everyone gets the creeps from the snow after the hammering we took last year. We are ready for spring already!
After a brief tour of duty outside, Tilly and Toby have returned to bed, which Ellie has been keeping warm. She mysteriously disappears when it is time to go out in the morning sometimes, especially when it is snow. The pathetic look on her face if I force her to go out into the cold outdoors wears me down in no time and I look the other way as she does her little business on the paper that is set out for her brother, who despite going out frequently, still needs it. They are all in a pig-pile on the doggie bed. Another musical quote from the song "I Don't Want to Grow Up" -- I thought it was written by Chris Difford, but just found out it is a Ramones cover. Either way, sentiment rings true:
When I'm lyin' in my bed at night
I don't wanna grow up
Nothing ever seems to turn out right
I don't wanna grow up
How do you move in a world of fog that's
always changing things
Makes wish that I could be a dog
Enjoy the snow. And this colorful little house to counteract it. Ugh. !!
