Today I want to share the art of an artist whose moniker is only Aradne. I know very little about who this interesting artist is, beyond the fact that the work is part of an "Outsider Art" exhibition profiled in Embroidery magazine. It is comprised of these doodle-like disproportionate figures, saturated with stitch, in both 2D and 3D forms. Really engaging. Thread voodoo. This link shows current work from the artist's studio gallery in Brighton, England. I particularly like the life sized parrot headed creature and think for sure that there was an eclectus involved. I'd like to see these in person to know how dimensional they are as it is hard to tell if they are basically relief pieces or truly free standing figures. The monochromatic panels of floating crowds are also really powerful. Lots of soul, here...hmmmm......
Happy Saturday!
