Here are a few to check out:
Ruth McDowell: This amazing artist creates images using intricate piecing techniques that are evidence of her background in engineering at MIT. She has created many floral images and produced a book of floral patterns for others to use, as well. Here is a quilt of an Amaryllis. Her ability to accurately and precisely piece complex images from fabric is truly unrivaled in the art quilting world.
Marion Browning: This UK artist has a beautifully soft color palette. She mixes fabric collage with embroidery to achieve soft, painterly results. Methinks Redon is being channeled, here!
Bobby Britnell: Another gem from the UK, Bobby Britnell works with a muted color palette and mixed media techniques to create pieces that focus more on floral shapes and spaces. Here recent book explains her technique and inspirations.
Michael Brennand-Wood explores the symmetrical shapes of flowers and crystals in his mixed media textile work. Really interesting imagery and site!
