On the domestic front, I’ve been focusing on organizing art supplies in my front room / teaching room. Started with beads, now on to every visible shelf and surface. I want it to be livable in there!
Sunday, a new furniture-child came along courtesy of an incredibly generous and kind friend, Andrea. It replaced a nasty bookcase from 1995 and provides a ton of storage for a lot of the things that have been hanging out like clutter in the room. Plus more bead storage...heh heh heh. While I don’t usually name furniture, this cabinet will be named Little Andrea after her generosity. Being able to sort and purge as I emptied the bookcase has gotten me started on doing more of this type of tossing -- and I am so grateful. So, thank you Andrea! Little Andrea has kicked my inner virgo up a gear and I am on an organizing binge, which the art stuff has needed very badly. Your kindness has truly helped me, and all the stuff you’ve passed along to my students is helping them. Talk about a good deed doer!
Looking at the ethereal art of Rosemary Campbell today. She is featured now on the Textileartist.org website, as well as the website for the Textile Study Group. She has a long history of exhibiting beautiful artwork and teaching. Her rich fall color scheme suggests antiques and history, with the fragmentary nature of her collaged and stitched work suggesting erosion, or corrosion, without losing the focus on imagery. I like it. Misty, atmospheric feelings...text...images that reference historical features of the best textile artists in the world. Gorgeous work! Enjoy!
