My nephew goes off to college today, too. I have to call and see if I can zip up to see him and his bro Alex. Then it is my adrenaline-rush school prep, house cleaning, laundry doing, food cooking day. Never mind that Hampton hosts its Topless Beach day today and the weather is wonderful. KIDDING! Although I think it would be really comfortable to “let it all hang out,” just one “Hi Ms. Ropple from a student would do me in for good. I truly hate bras and if I had the choice would probably never wear one again, though. I don’t see what the big deal is. A boob is a boob like an elbow is an elbow. Deal with it, people. Another lesson from AFP.
I was so bummed that my teenage music loving spirit took a back seat to coma-like sleep yesterday and I was not able to boogie down to Brooklyn to see the Dresden Dolls second (and last) show on Coney Island. Then, lo and behold, late afternoon Amanda announced that she was going to live stream the show to the world so everyone could be there. That is why I support her on Patreon. She puts all the money she raises right back into her business. Streaming a show like this is not cheap or easy, and shows the extra mile she goes for her peeps. I missed a lot of the show and actually fell asleep to the part I did get to watch, but think it will be available today, too. Seeing them live was wayyyy better and more powerful than on video, of course, but seeing the show from a quieter and cleaner perspective is also interesting. Still buoyed by the pro-art message in her performances. It’s nice to have a kick-ass cheerleader leading the soul-filled art camp!
I look at my “Summer To Do List” and laugh. Then want to cry. Then laugh again. Those three things that got checked off are done, anyway. Sigh. Cooler weather on the way, maybe more things will get done…and more will be added to the list. Game continues!
For an art link today, here is a link to artist Linda Matthew’s page that features a neat little scrappy bag and more. I love the handmade feel of this little ditty, and if my plan for adopting leggings for work this year comes true, I’ll have no pocket for my phone or belt loop for keys. Horrors! Maybe a little bag like this might work! Also, there are online courses about printing on fabric and getting great results every time, as well as ways of printing on cloth other than cotton. Cheesecloth sounds fun! Oohhh! So many artistic directions to pursue, so little time! Hapi is yelling at me to let him come out, so game on to a busy Sunday. Cheers!
