V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N is here. Gorgeous weather is here. Allergies are here, too, but that's the least of the medical worries. Next Rituxan infusion is here this week, and hopefully it will beat down the RA a bit so that I can make the most of the time I have to do things this week, including fill the 25 big paper lawn bags I got at Home Depot yesterday. Yes, 25. And yes, I can easily fill them. A lot of things are getting dumped this week!
Today's link is to a nice article about the importance of Fine Arts study in the lives of kids (and adults!) This is published by the Independent School District of Katy, Texas. As I continue to gather information about the importance of art in the development of children and adults, this provides an interesting perspective that many art teachers share. I feel the "art-for-arts-sake" pendulum swaying back to the experiential side of the process. I never would have thought that I'd be moving in this direction myself, having been trained as an art teacher in the era of DBAE (Discipline Based Art Education.) I think I am becoming a hippie art teacher, and I like it!
What will you make today?
